Piotr Wojtek, MD, PhD

SPECIALIST IN RADIOLOGY

He specializes in radiology and internal medicine. Consultant and head of radiology departments in Poland and abroad. Owner of Polish-Norwegian Medical Consultants.

He obtained his specialization in internal medicine and radiology while working at the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases, the Medical University of Silesia, and the Oncology Institute. He was a scholarship holder at Yale University, Deborah Heart and Lung Center, and the Catholic University of Leuven. He worked as a consultant and led radiology departments in Poland, England, Norway, and Greenland. He earned his PhD in cardiovascular pathophysiology, based on research conducted on the 8,000-meter peak Lhotse in Nepal. He has participated in several expeditions to the Himalayas, including the winter national expedition to Nanga Parbat. His main area of interest is cardiovascular imaging.

Tor Tegnander, MD

SPECIALIST IN DENTISTRY

He specializes in composite and porcelain fillings. Collaborator with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Holds a bachelor’s degree in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

He completed his dental studies (DDS) in Oslo, Norway, in 1985. He has over 30 years of experience in composites and porcelain fillings. In the early 1990s, he was one of the first dentists in Norway to reject amalgam. Amalgam was banned in dentistry in Norway in 2008. He is passionate about dentistry as well as pain treatment. He holds a bachelor’s degree in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. He has worked with acupuncture in China, at Aker University Hospital in Norway, and in his private clinic. After several years of practicing both dentistry and acupuncture, he began studying implantology and later focused on facial pain issues. After 8 years and 400 hours of coursework, he is now the only Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) in Europe. He has completed courses led by Dr. Piper and Dr. Dawson and has accumulated 2,000 hours of postdoctoral education.

Dariusz Łątka, MD, PhD, Asocc.Prof.

SPECIALIST IN NEUROSURGERY AND NEUROTRAUMATOLOGY

He specializes in neurosurgery and neurotraumatology. He heads the Neurosurgery Department at the University Clinical Hospital in Opole. He also serves as the regional consultant for neurosurgery and neurotraumatology.

A professor of neurosurgery, since 2003 he has been the head of the Neurosurgery Department at the University Clinical Hospital in Opole. He has served two terms as the regional consultant for neurosurgery and neurotraumatology for the Opole Voivodeship.He was the initiator and first President of the Board of the Association for the Development of Neurosurgery in the Opole Region “Neuro.” He also served as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Vital Medic, Poland’s most advanced private neurosurgery hospital, and the Vital Medic Education Center for Medical Education and Development in Kluczbork.Since 2015, he has worked closely with university authorities on the initiative to establish a medical faculty at the University of Opole, initially as part of the Scientific Council advising the Rector of the University of Opole, and later as a consultant on the transformation of the Provincial Medical Center into a clinical hospital.He is a board member of several major national professional organizations that bring together neurosurgeons and spine surgeons.

Marek Paściak, MD, PhD

SPECIALIST IN ORTHOPEDICS AND TRAUMATOLOGY

He specializes in orthopedics and traumatology. He works in the Neurosurgery Department at the Provincial Specialist Hospital in Bytom and heads the Orthopedic Department at a private hospital in Siemianowice Śląskie.

He currently works in the Neurosurgery Department at the Provincial Specialist Hospital in Bytom and at a private hospital in Siemianowice Śląskie, where he heads the Orthopedic Department. He graduated from the Silesian Medical Academy in 1985. He obtained his specialization in orthopedics and traumatology in 1992 while working at the Provincial Hospital of Trauma Surgery in Piekary Śląskie. He was a scholarship recipient at the University of Basel, where he worked in the Orthopedic Clinic (1991/1992). He earned his PhD in 1993. For 20 years, he led the Spine Injuries and Disorders Department at the Provincial Hospital of Trauma Surgery in Piekary Śląskie. He has performed over 6,000 surgeries and has been exclusively focused on spine surgery for 25 years. He is the author and co-author of more than 70 published papers and has lectured at numerous courses on spine disorders and surgery.

Wojciech Malottki, MD, PhD

SPECIALIST IN UROLOGY, THORACIC SURGERY AND GENERAL SURGEON

He specializes in urology, thoracic surgery, and general surgery. He runs a private urology clinic, the Center for Laser and Minimally Invasive Urology (U-Med). He is a member of the American, European, and Polish Urological Associations.

He currently runs a private urology clinic, the Center for Laser and Minimally Invasive Urology (U-Med). In 1989, he graduated from the Silesian Medical Academy in Zabrze. He obtained his first-level specialization in general surgery in 1992 at the Thoracic and General Surgery Clinic in Zabrze. In 1997, he completed his second-level specialization in urology. In 1998, he passed the European Urology Specialty Exam, earning the title of FEBU (Fellow of the European Board of Urology). From 2004 to 2011, he served as the Head of the Urology Department at the Provincial Hospital in Kalisz. In 2006, he earned a PhD in medical sciences, defending his dissertation titled “Comparative Evaluation of the Outcomes of Selected Surgical Methods for Treating Giant Ureteral Narrowing in Children.” He is the author and co-author of scientific papers in the field of urology. He is a member of the American, European, and Polish Urological Associations.

Anna Błach, MD, PhD

SPECIALIST IN CARDIOLOGY AND INTERNAL MEDICINE

She is a specialist in internal medicine and nuclear medicine. She specializes in clinical cardiology and cardiac imaging, with a particular focus on nuclear cardiology. She works in the Cardiology Department of Structural Heart Diseases at GCM Hospital in Katowice.

She currently works in the Cardiology Department of Structural Heart Diseases at GCM Hospital in Katowice. She is a specialist in internal medicine and nuclear medicine at the VOXEL Imaging Diagnostics Center in Katowice, the Cardiology and Structural Heart Diseases Department at the Medical University of Silesia, and in a cardiology outpatient clinic. She graduated from the Medical University of Silesia in 1997 and completed a year-long internship at the MSW Hospital in Katowice.In 2005, she obtained her qualifications from the Council of Ministers in internal medicine, in 2013 in cardiology, and in 2017 in nuclear medicine. She was a resident in the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at the Upper Silesian Medical Center from 2001 to 2006. She earned her doctoral degree in 2005. She has completed numerous courses and training in clinical cardiology in Poland and a fellowship in nuclear cardiology at the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital in Zurich. Her main research interests include clinical cardiology and cardiac imaging, particularly in nuclear cardiology. She is the author and co-author of scientific publications in the field of cardiology. She is a member of the Polish Cardiac Society and the European Society of Nuclear Medicine.

Wojciech Rokicki, MD, PhD

SPECIALIST IN GENERAL SURGERY AND THORACIC SURGERY

He is a specialist in general surgery and thoracic surgery. He received the title of professor in 2000. From 2005 to 2013, he served as the Head of the Department and Clinic of Thoracic Surgery at the Medical University of Silesia.

In 1971, he graduated from the Silesian Medical Academy in Katowice. He is a specialist in general surgery and thoracic surgery. He was awarded the title of professor in 2000. From 2005 to 2013, he was the Head of the Department and Clinic of Thoracic Surgery at the Silesian Medical University (SUM). He was a member of the Senate of SUM from 2008 to 2012. He served on the Board of the Polish Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Society from 2006 to 2010 and is a member of the Board of the Polish Thoracic Surgeons Club. He is the author or co-author of approximately 160 various scientific reports and numerous textbooks. His main areas of scientific inquiry include new treatment possibilities for purulent diseases of the thorax, severe thoracic injuries, lung cancer, and modern methods for treating pneumothorax. He obtained a certificate in experimental microsurgery in 1985 and completed training in metabolic liver diseases in Switzerland in 1987 and 1988. Together with Professor Marek Rokicki, he developed models for portocaval anastomoses performed on small animals, as well as a model for gastric banding in rats. This model was accepted in the international scientific literature (Obes. Surg. 2008, 18, 656-659), creating opportunities for experimental research on metabolic issues related to obesity. In 2013, he was honored with the award from the Rector for his overall scientific achievements. In the same year, he received the Golden Laurel of Skills and Competencies for his work on behalf of the residents of Silesia.

Tomasz Romańczyk, MD, PhD.

SPECIALIST IN GASTROENTEROLOGY AND INTERNAL MEDICINE

He is a specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He serves as a regional consultant in gastroenterology for the Silesian Voivodeship.

He is currently a regional consultant in gastroenterology for the Silesian Voivodeship. He graduated from the Silesian Medical Academy in 1988 and obtained his doctorate in 1998. In 2000, he completed postgraduate studies in Healthcare Management and EBM Tutoring. He has completed a lead auditor course in ISO 9001:2000 certified by IRCA, as well as a GCP course. He holds specializations in internal medicine and gastroenterology and has participated in numerous clinical trials. He is a member of the Polish Gastroenterology Society, the Quality Promotion Society, the Polish Chapter of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the WHC Foundation and a member of the Transparency Council at AOTMiT. He is the author and co-author of 34 publications, the editor of a book, and the author or co-author of 19 abstracts presented at international conferences and 25 presented at national congresses. He is actively involved in public service—having been elected for a third term as a member of the Supreme Medical Council, he is also the Chair of the Legislative Committee of this Council.

Anders Hovland, MD, PhD, Asocc. Prof.

SPECIALIST IN CARDIOLOGY

He specializes in cardiology, including acute coronary syndromes, acute heart failure, and arrhythmia, as well as invasive diagnostics, including PCI. He is a non-invasive cardiologist at Nordland Hospital in Norway. He serves as a senior consultant at Aleris Health in Bodø/Tromsø.

Currently a general, non-invasive cardiologist at Nordland Hospital, a community hospital in Norway. Over 20 years of work, he has gained experience in a wide range of cardiology, including acute coronary syndromes, acute heart failure, and arrhythmias, providing round-the-clock cardiology care as well as invasive diagnostics, including PCI. He is a senior consultant at Aleris Health in Bodø / Tromsø. In 2012, he obtained his Ph.D. He is a lecturer at the University of Tromsø, and in 2016, his lecture was honored with the title ‘Lecture of the Year 2016.’ He has published 48 articles in PubMed and has authored or co-authored 10 articles in leading international peer-reviewed journals.

Roman Przybylski, MD, PhD

SPECIALIST IN CARDIAC SURGERY AND PEDIATRIC CARDIAC SURGERY

He specializes in cardiac surgery, pediatric cardiac surgery, and clinical transplantation. He heads the Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support Department in Kraków and the Cardiac Surgery Department at the University Clinical Hospital in Wrocław.

Currently, he heads the Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support Department in Kraków and the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University Clinical Hospital in Wrocław. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Silesian Medical University in Zabrze in 1984, and since then has been employed at the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze. In 1987, he obtained the first degree of specialization in general surgery. From 1988 to 1989, he participated in a training program at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center in New Jersey, USA. From 1992 to 1993, he was at the Joseph Lunenfeld Cardiac Surgery Research Center in Jerusalem, Israel, conducting experimental work on cardiac muscle protection. In 1995, he obtained the second degree of specialization in cardiac surgery, and from 1994 to 1996, he was a consultant in pediatric cardiac surgery at the Voivodeship Specialist Hospital in Wrocław. Since 2000, he has served as the Deputy Head of the Clinical Department of Cardiac Surgery and Transplantation at the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze. He was awarded the title of Doctor of Medical Sciences in 2002. From 2004 to 2018, he was employed at the Silesian Medical University in Katowice as an assistant professor. In 2020, he specialized in Clinical Transplantation.

Wojciech Adam Korlacki, MD, PhD, DSc

SPECIALIST IN PEDIATRIC SURGERY, LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY AND THORACOSCOPIC SURGERY

He specializes in pediatric surgery, laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery, and neonatal surgery. He is the Head of the Department and the Director of the Clinic for the Surgery of Developmental Disorders in Children and Traumatology at the Medical University of Silesia. He also serves as the regional consultant in pediatric surgery for the Silesian Voivodeship.

Currently, he is the Head of the Department and Director of the Clinic for Pediatric Developmental Defects Surgery and Traumatology at the Silesian Medical University (ŚUM). He is also a Provincial Consultant for Pediatric Surgery in the Silesian Voivodeship. His areas of scientific and professional interest include pediatric surgery, laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery, and neonatal surgery. He has gained experience through numerous training programs in the USA, France, Germany, and Italy. He holds a certificate from the European Institute of Tele-Surgery IRCAD-EITS in Strasbourg in the areas of laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery, laparoscopic endocrine surgery, and laparoscopic pediatric surgery. He has obtained the European Certificate of Specialization in Pediatric Surgery awarded by the EBPS (European Board of Pediatric Surgery) and UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists). He is the author or co-author of 94 scientific publications, 14 book chapters, and 233 congress reports.

Janusz Korlacki, MD, PhD

SPECIALIST IN GENERAL SURGERY

He is a specialist in general surgery. He is the Head of the Surgical Department at Municipal Hospital No. 4 in Gliwice. He is a member of the Management Team for the 58th Congress of the Polish Surgical Society.

He was the Head of the Surgical Department at Municipal Hospital No. 4 in Gliwice. He graduated from the Silesian Medical Academy in 1982 and obtained his Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in 1994. He is a specialist in general surgery. From 1998 to 2016, he served as the Head and Deputy Head of the Surgical Department at the Independent Public Healthcare Facility in Chorzów. From 2017 to 2018, he was the Head of the Surgical Department at Municipal Hospital No. 4 in Gliwice. In 1987, he received the teaching award from the Rector of the Silesian Medical University, and in 1994, he was awarded by the Commission and Council of the Faculty of the Silesian Medical University for his doctoral thesis titled “Experimental Assessment of the Dynamics of the Reconstruction of Beef Fascia Depending on the Method of Preservation and Site of Implantation in a Xenogenic System.” He is the author of 8 papers presented at conferences and symposia and the author or co-author of 16 scientific publications. He has participated in numerous congresses of the Polish Surgeons’ Society and is a member of the Management Team for the 58th Congress of the Polish Surgeons’ Society. He has also participated in congresses of the Polish Gastroenterology Society, the Polish Society of Anatomy, and the Polish Transplantation Society.
